Jason Cox is a board-certified Acupuncturist and Massage Therapist. He holds his degree in Chinese Medicine and is a diplomate of the National Certification Commission on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Jason received his training from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago, IL and San Diego, CA. During his education, he was the recipient of the Golden Flower Scholarship for excellence in herbal studies and specialized in Japanese Style Meridian Therapy, Orthopedic Acupuncture, and Tui Na Bodywork with a focus on musculoskeletal issues and pain relief. In addition to private practice, Jason served as a faculty member at Pacific College Chicago where he taught classes in Tui Na and Herbalism, managed the PCOM Student Clinic Herbal Dispensary, and currently is a team member with Advocate Aurora Good Shepherd Hospital’s Integrative Center.
His interest in traditional medicine began over 15 years ago when he began to look closely at health benefits he had attained through changes in diet, yoga, and qi gong practice. While doing volunteer work in South America, he observed and worked with local villages who maintained herb gardens and foraged from the surrounding countryside to prepare topical and internal remedies and sparked his interest in traditional herbal medicine.
He is passionate about Asian Medicine and the role it can play in the scope of healthcare options. His enthusiasm for Integrative models is fueled by his belief that, in addition to Acupuncture and Bodywork, a holistic approach to healthcare is paramount. Incorporating traditional philosophies of the Mind-Body connection and blending his skills with the collaborative efforts of his peers, Jason hopes to educate his patients on the necessity of prevention and self-care, giving them the tools to be active participants in their own states of wellbeing.
Jason holds a BFA in Fine Art and enjoys painting and drawing in his spare time. An amateur musician and lover of music, his karaoke skills are legendary to himself if not to others. He is a food enthusiast, avid home cook, has a preoccupation with researching the cuisine and eating traditions of other cultures, and looks forward to any opportunity when he can eat, travel, and spend time camping and hiking in the great outdoors.
